pallet

Product Specifications:
Total weight on skid = 1065 lbs
Each shed = about 355 lbs
Pallet dimensions = 49” x 49” x 93.5”
Current Strapping:
½” wide, embossed black polypropylene strapping, 0.030” thick , 16” Dia. x 6” Core
Average breaking strength: 600 lbs
Secured with ½” Wire buckles
-When this model is in production, about 120 pallets wrapped and banded per 8 hour shift.
Problem(s):
-Strapping does not retain tension during transport
-Loose strapping creates hazard of tipping product
Constraints:
-Would prefer to stick with 1/2” strapping and ½” wire buckles
-strapping that retains tension better?
-different strapping / buckles to reduce slipage?

The best choice strap for this project is 1/2″ Poly Woven Cord Strapping.  Based on the drawing, the best way to strap this pallet would be to put 2 straps north/south and 2 straps east/west with 1 strap used as a belly band.  PP strap has on average a 15% stretch when put under load so that would not be a good choice in this application.
